The major stated in the program that this information was received from Russian prisoners of war who were interrogated and revealed how they got into Avdiyivka.
According to the prisoners, a group of 150 Russian soldiers had to move through a pipe behind the Ukrainian forces in Avdiyivka itself from west to east. The length of the pipe is said to be 2600 meters, but the diameter is only 80 centimeters, with exits every 100, 150 meters.
“This miracle was created by Russian engineering units, hidden from the Ukrainians, operating underground. It is unique, because the tunnel was built with very weak equipment”, said Slaidinš.
As the major was able to say, three strike groups were also formed – “Antoha”, “Dovik” and “Kaban”, which moved every 100, 150 meters behind each other.
“It is not spontaneous, the preparation took place in a special training camp in Ilovaisk. These groups were formed from Russian prisoners. Currently, there are around 300 “lumpen” in training in Ilovaisk, and it is possible that there are other places where such tunnels have been dug, but it is not known where other tunnels of this type could be located – this is a new type of Russian attack tactics”, said Slaidinš in the program.
