Russian Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov Warns of US Historical Ignorance

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the ignorance of the history of the Great Patriotic War by US citizens will lead to the fact that a generation will soon appear in the country that will not be able to soberly assess the present and future. He pointed out that Russia, in turn, will continue to do everything to keep the memory of the feat of the Soviet people.

During the press call, Dmitry Peskov was asked to comment on the words of White House spokesman Karine Jean-Pierre that May marks the anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe and the victory of the United States and allied forces over fascism on the continent. “This, unfortunately, is a rather pernicious line. We know from various sociological materials that in America, from the younger generation, no one remembers who fought with whom during World War II. And in fact, even the middle generation there is not aware of the details of our recent past,” he replied.

Dmitry Peskov believes that soon there will be a generation in the United States that will not be able to “soberly assess its present and its future,” since American citizens do not know “who saved the world from the brown plague.” “This is a very, very deplorable process in the medium and long term,” he added.

“In contrast, we will continue to do everything to tell our younger generation, to keep the memory of the Great Patriotic War, the feat of the Soviet people,” concluded the press secretary of the Russian president.
