Russian Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov Ready to Negotiate with US on Moscow’s Terms, NBC News Interview Reveals

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that Russia is ready to negotiate with the US, but on its own terms. This is what Peskov commented in an interview for NBC News.

The Kremlin spokesman also believes that “the world is much less safe now than it was before the suspension of dialogue between Russia and the United States.”

Peskov accused the US and the West of unnecessarily prolonging the war in Ukraine and that the US and allies were sending Kiev mixed messages about the support it would receive.

He accused Washington of throwing billions of taxpayer dollars “down the drain” by providing military and financial aid to Kiev – something he said had not produced much on the battlefield.

“You have to understand your responsibility for this,” Peskov said. “You are prolonging this conflict.”

Russia, which invaded its smaller neighbor on February 24 last year and proceeded to illegally annex regions in the country’s east, initially suffered surprising losses on the battlefield as Ukrainians rallied to defend their homeland and the West united to repel Putin’s troops, writes NBC News.

Russia now has the upper hand and Kiev has had to scramble to secure vital support amid growing disagreements between US and European lawmakers over how long Ukraine’s allies can keep up aid supplies.
