Russian President’s Press Secretary Denies Reports of Putin’s “Sensational Statement” on Global Security

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said today, January 3, that publications distributed on social networks about Vladimir Putin’s allegedly preparing a “sensational statement” on global security in the coming days do not correspond to reality.

“No. This is fake,” RIA Novosti quotes a Kremlin representative as saying.

The day before, information began to spread on various telegram channels that in the near future the head of the Russian state would allegedly address the Russians on issues of global security, in particular, on the conflict in Ukraine. It was argued that this would not be an ultimatum, “but a statement that was tough in its parameters.”

After a rocket attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Russian city of Belgorod on December 30, which resulted in civilian casualties, the President of the Russian Federation issued an address during which he called the attacks by the Kyiv regime a terrorist attack. The Ukrainian Armed Forces deliberately fired at civilians with indiscriminate weapons from multiple launch rocket systems, the Russian leader emphasized then.
