Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with his digital twin during a press conference that started in the morning.
The double was generated by a student from St. Petersburg.
“I am a student and study at St. Petersburg State University. I want to ask: is it true that you have many doubles,” the double asked. He also asked how the head of the Kremlin views the dangers associated with artificial intelligence.
To this, the President of the Russian Federation replied that only one person can be like him and speak in his voice: himself.
“I see that you can be like me and speak in my voice. But I thought and decided that only one person can look like me and speak in my voice. And that person will only be me,” Putin said.
He also noted that this is his “first double.”
As for the danger of the development of AI, according to Putin, it is impossible to prevent it, including the development of such superintelligence, which “begins to feel, which distinguishes smells, which acquires cognitive capabilities, which develops itself.”
“That means we need to lead. In any case, we need to do everything so that we can be one of the leaders in this direction. But no one knows how this will end. These are the realities, at least today. Yes, we can now talk about possible restrictions, about self-restraints. But we can and should talk about the need to somehow agree between leaders so as not to create conditions that could lead to some kind of danger for humanity,” Putin said.
Previously, the media and opinion leaders have repeatedly touched upon the topic of Putin’s doubles. So, in the spring, rumors began to spread online about the alleged death of the Russian President at his residence in Valdai and that Russia is ruled by Putin’s double.
In November, Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov officially denied that the Russian President has doubles.
