Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Erdogan Türkiye will hold a summit in Sochi, Russia on the 4th, the Kremlin announced.
[드미트리 페스코프 / 러시아 크렘린궁 대변인 : 정상회담이 4일 열린다는 것은 사실입니다. 정상들은 그날 낮 소치에 있을 것입니다.]
It is already known that Putin and Erdogan will hold a summit in Sochi, but this is the first time the exact date has been officially announced.
Cooperation between the two countries and various international issues will be discussed at the summit, but in particular, the Black Sea grain agreement, which was suspended due to Russia’s withdrawal last month, is expected to be discussed.
The Black Sea Grain Agreement is an agreement that enables Ukrainian grain exports through Black Sea ports even during Russia’s ‘special military operation’, and was made in July last year through the mediation of the United Nations and Turkey.
However, Russia declared its withdrawal in July, saying that the provisions on grain and fertilizer exports guaranteed by the agreement were not being fulfilled.
President Putin directly stated that he would meet with President Xi Jinping at an official event.
[블라디미르 푸틴 / 러시아 대통령 : 중국 주석과의 만남이 있을 것입니다. 시진핑 주석은 저를 친구라고 부르며, 저도 기꺼이 그를 친구라고 부릅니다.]
Putin explained that he was delighted to call Xi a friend because he is the man who has driven many developments in Russia-China relations.
President Putin is expected to visit China next month to attend the Belt and Road Forum.
The visit to China will be his first overseas visit since an arrest warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court in March.
