Russian President Vladimir Putin will not come to Indonesia for the G20 summit later this month. This was reported by the Russian embassy in Indonesia. Putin could have a virtual presence. Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
In the West, the visit of the Russian president to the summit on the Indonesian island is delicate. US President Joe Biden had no plans to meet Putin at the G20 summit, US officials said.
Indonesia is hosting this year’s G20 and last summer Western countries came under pressure to withdraw Putin’s invitation to the summit. The reason was the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky was also invited to the meeting. Last week he said he will not come to Bali if Putin is there.
