Details: About 3 thousand migrants were detained in St. Petersburg during checks “to prevent crime.” According to Russian propagandists, it turned out that more than 600 migrants were in Russia with various violations of migration legislation. More than 100 people faced deportation.

Russian online publication SOTA reported that among the migrants detained in Moscow was a man from Tajikistan dressed as Santa Claus.

In Chelyabinsk, the Investigative Committee announced that it was opening a criminal case against three migrants for “hooliganism” against Russian military personnel and their wives: “A crowd of drunken migrants attacked two young people demobilized from the front line, one military man was hit with a baton.”

It is also noted that migrants insulted the wives of Russian war criminals.

The committee said it had also launched an investigation into “illegal actions of migrants” in the Sverdlovsk region, the Urals and the Moscow region.

Many migrants, mainly from neighboring Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, come to Russia in search of work.

In December, President Vladimir Putin said there were more than 10 million migrant workers living in Russia.
