The Russian pilot, who apparently flew the Mi-8 helicopter to the Kharkiv region, by agreement with the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, can receive about $0.5 million as a reward. But only if he did this consciously and voluntarily.
According to the Ukrainian special services, there was an agreement with the pilot, but two of his colleagues in the helicopter were killed after landing.
On the other hand, some Russian TV channels report, citing information from the Russian side, that the pilot landed the helicopter in Ukraine (Poltava) by accident due to a malfunctioning navigation system.
Back in 2022, the special services of Ukraine passed a law on monetary rewards for Russian military equipment suitable for use voluntarily transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to it, servicemen of the RF Armed Forces can be taken prisoner along with equipment and receive compensation depending on its type:
- Combat aircraft of fighter or attack aircraft – $1 million;
- Combat helicopter – $0.5 million;
- Multiple launch rocket system – $25,000 with caliber up to 122 mm, $35,000 with caliber from 122 mm;
- Tank, self-propelled ground artillery – $100,000;
- Infantry fighting vehicle (landing), armored personnel carrier, armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle – $50,000;
- Military vehicle / tractor / engineering vehicle for reconnaissance, demining, barriers, laying tracks, etc. – $10 thousand;
- Ship of the 1st or 2nd rank – $1 million;
- Ship of 3rd or 4th rank – $0.5 million;
- Military (auxiliary) support vessel – $200,000;
- Small-sized combat (reconnaissance) vessel – $50,000
Earlier, Telegraf reported that on August 23, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) reported that they had taken a Mi-8 military transport helicopter from the military space forces of the Russian Federation (VKS). He took off from the Russian airfield and landed in the Kharkov region. And then he was sent to Kyiv.
