Russian OpenTalks Forum Cancelled in Tbilisi Amid Outrage Over Putin’s Skolkovo Funding

The organizers of the Russian OpenTalks forum reported that the conference planned in Tbilisi will not take place for reasons beyond their control.

Earlier, there was outrage in the Georgian opposition media due to the fact that a forum “financed by Putin’s Skolkovo” was to be held in Tbilisi on March 6-7. In addition, Georgian publics emphasize that among the sponsors are sanctioned Russian banks and companies – Kaspersky, SberBank, Rostelecom, etc.

The Pullman Axis Towers hotel, where the event was planned, responded by saying that they were an international brand and could not “discriminate against organizers based on nationality.” And later they also announced the cancellation of the forum on their territory.

“Due to high public interest, we would like to inform you that after we became aware of additional information about the OpenTalks.AI conference, the management of the Pullman Tbilisi Axis Towers Hotel has decided to no longer hold this event on the hotel premises. The decision to cancel the OpenTalks.AI conference, despite the potential financial impact, underscores Pullman’s commitment and unwavering support for international collaboration and values,” the hotel said in a statement.
