June 30, 2019 seems a long way away. On that day, then-US President Donald Trump visited his North Korean counterpart, Kim Jong-un, in Panmunjom. An unprecedented event in history.
Four years later, the opening of North Korea towards the United States and its partners is no longer on the agenda. Another merger is underway; as evidenced by the meeting, on September 13, 2023, between Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the Vostochny cosmodrome, in Russia.
Today, cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea could take several forms: anti-Western, of course, but also economic, technological, military.
This is what we explain in our three-minute video. If you want to know more on the subject, we refer you to the analysis of our correspondent in Tokyo, Philippe Pons.
