In Russia, the “stealth” corvette “Mercury”, which had just been commissioned by the Russian Navy, was sent for redesign.
Russia had difficulties with the next “analogue”. We are talking about project 20386, which is also known as the Mercury corvette. It was sent for redesign, although it was commissioned by the Russian Navy only half a month ago.
This was reported by the Russian pro-Kremlin edition of RIA Novosti, citing an informed source, Dialog.UA reports.
The construction of the first corvette “Mercury” lasted for a long 8 years. Delivery dates have been pushed back several times. The ship was launched for the first time in 2020, and was adopted by the Russian fleet only three years later – on May 13, 2023. And, apparently, the development is not all right.
So far, it has not been possible to send it to mass production. Instead, the project went into redesign, ostensibly to introduce “innovative solutions.”
“The project is not closed, the project continues, but shifts to the right for the period necessary for redesign. Additional elaboration of a number of adopted innovative solutions was required“, – said the source.
The developers claim that stealth technology is allegedly involved in the corvette – a radar-absorbing coating to reduce the visibility of the ship, modular weapons and the possibility of using UAVs.
The Russians have already spent trillions of rubles on the development of Mercury. It was expected that by 2025 the fleet will include three ships of this project, however, apparently, this will not be possible.
Earlier, the army and the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation hit the bottom – the country is not able to produce ammunition on a large scale.
We also wrote that after the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian corvette was towed along the Volga to the plant.
