It is reported that the Pavel Derzhavin could have been damaged as a result of a mysterious emergency near the port of occupied Sevastopol a couple of hours ago.
“The large patrol ship “Pavel Derzhavin” was blown up. It is not yet clear what happened: either a missile strike, or an air or naval drone strike, or simply someone had a bad smoke“, the adviser said.
Recently, information appeared that the Russian Navy is withdrawing its fleet from Sevastopol, which has recently been regularly attacked by Ukrainian missiles and drones. Ukraine, having practically no fleet of its own, managed to paralyze the key Russian naval port in Crimea, and also deprived the aggressor of dominance in the Black Sea.
What is known about the ship?
“Pavel Derzhavin” is the newest military vessel of the Russian Navy. It was launched in 2019, and a year later it was accepted into the Black Sea Fleet.
After the invasion of Ukraine began, the Russians reinforced their patrol ship with additional weapons, or more precisely, the Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile system to protect against air attacks.
Today, the Russian fleet has only four corvettes similar to Pavel Derzhavin. These are “Sergey Kotov”, “Vasily Bykov” and “Dmitry Rogachev”.
