Russian Navy Conducts Shooting Exercises with Real Missiles in the Black Sea

Navy Russia held shooting exercises with real missiles in the waters Black Sea northwestern part. The firing drills were held days after the Kremlin warned that ships were sailing into port Ukraine via the Black Sea is a potential military target.

As reported AFPFriday (21/7/2023), the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Friday (21/7) local time that the firing exercise was carried out by the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

“Conducted direct fire of an anti-ship cruise missile against a target ship in a combat training area in the northwestern part of the Black Sea,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement via Telegram.

“The target ship was destroyed by the missile strike,” the statement added.

“Also during the joint exercises, the ships and aviation of the flotilla carried out measures to isolate areas temporarily closed for navigation, and also carried out a series of measures to restrain offending vessels,” explained the Russian Ministry of Defense.

On Wednesday (19/7) local time, Russia said that cargo ships sailing to Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea would be considered as possibly carrying military cargo. The statement came days after Moscow canceled a grain export deal with Ukraine.
