Russian Navy Can Carry Out Unpreventable Attacks If Needed

ST PETERSBURG – President Vladimir Putin said the Navy (AL) Russia can detect any enemy and launch unpreventable attacks if needed.

Putin’s remarks came on Sunday, weeks after a British warship angered Moscow by passing through the Crimean Peninsula.

“We are able to detect the enemy under the sea, over the sea, in the air and, if necessary, carry out an irreversible attack against it,” Putin said during a speech at the Naval Day parade in St. Reuters, Monday (26/7/2021).

Putin’s words came after an incident in the Black Sea in June when Russia said it had fired warning shots and dropped bombs in the path of a British warship to drive it out of Crimean waters.

Britain rejected Russia’s report of the incident, saying it believed every shot fired was a previously announced Russian “cannon drill”, and that no bombs were dropped.

Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 but Britain and much of the world recognizes the Black Sea peninsula as part of Ukraine, not Russia.

Putin said last month that Russia could have sunk the British warship HMS Defender, which it accuses of entering its territorial waters illegally, without starting a Third World War. According to him, the United States had played a role in the “provocation” of the British warship.
