On Saturday, the mothers of Alexey and Yulia Navalny came to the cemetery again.
Neither Navalny’s widow Yulia nor their children could attend the funeral on Friday.
On Friday, the police allowed people who laid flowers on the grave into the cemetery after the burial. A queue of several thousand people had formed at the cemetery.
The crowd at the cemetery chanted the slogans “No to war!”, “Down with the power of murderers!” and “We will not forgive!”.
Before that, a farewell to Navalny was held in the “Remde manas skumjas” church of the icon of the Mother of God in the Maryna district of Moscow, where several thousand people had gathered.
When the hearse with the oppositionist’s coffin arrived at the church shortly before the start of the planned ceremony, the crowd started chanting: “Navalny, Navalny!” and “You’re not afraid, we’re not!”
The ambassadors of the USA, France and Germany, as well as diplomatic representatives of several other European Union (EU) countries, came to say goodbye to the Russian opposition leader.

The former mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevhenii Roizman, as well as Boris Nadezhdin and Yekaterina Duntsova, who were banned by the Russian authorities from running in the so-called presidential elections, also came to participate in the ceremony.

Until the moment when the hearse with the coffin arrived at the church, the event could be watched on the broadcast of the “Doždj” TV channel, but the broadcast was interrupted at the scene due to blocking of mobile communications.
The authorities have warned that “any unauthorized gathering will be an offense and those who participate in it will be prosecuted”.
