[キーウ(キエフ) 5日 ロイター] – New rocket attacks by the Russian military on the 5th caused massive power outages across Ukraine. At least two people were killed and three others, including a child, were injured when a missile hit a house in the southeastern province of Zaporozhye.
Air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine and in the capital Kyiv (Kyiv) the temperature dropped to minus 5 degrees Celsius.
The attack cut power to 40 percent of the province, said Kuleva, governor of northern Kyiv province.
In the southern state of Odesa, the water supply was disrupted due to a power outage, and power outages were implemented around the city of Mikolaiu due to fire fears.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the Russian people for patience and solidarity as the country continues to work to restore energy and other services following the recent Russian military attack on critical infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Air Force said more than 60 of more than 70 missiles fired by Russia on Saturday were shot down. President Zelensky also told the Ukrainian public that the air defense system “shot down most of the missiles”. A government official said nine of the 10 missiles aimed at Kiev were shot down.
