Russian missile hits Italian company in Poland: “But for people here it’s as normal as talking about the weather”

It had already happened in 2022 but on that occasion the “sender” was Ukrainian and by mistake 2 of his employees at work were killed. Once again, almost two years later, at dawn on Sunday, a missile, this time Russian, passed over the roofs of the village where the entrepreneur from Padua Federico Viola he slept around 4 in the morning. The bomb invaded Polish airspace for 39 seconds near Oserdow, on the Ukrainian border, two kilometers as the crow flies from his farm in Setniki. The violation of Polish skies prompted a request for explanations from the Minister of Defense.

No alarms

“We are all well. What do you want…we’re here. I thought “we were lucky”. By nature I am a positive person, if I had been negative I would have had to leave already after the tragedy of 2022″, declared the entrepreneur interviewed by Corriere Veneto. The man says that the missile passed over a small village of about ten people for about forty seconds. Hardly anyone saw him at that time. At the moment the episode has not generated any alarm, “we live two kilometers as the crow flies from the Ukrainian border: people treat these things as news, they talk about them almost like they talk about the weather”.

The memory of the victims

The memory of his employees who died in 2022 is still alive, when Viola passes the cemetery on the road, his thoughts always go to his former employees. «We are worried about the fate of the conflict: we would like it to end but we see that it continues and we don’t know where it will end. It could happen that war enters, there are various conditions. But I want to think that doesn’t happen. We are still within NATO, there should be a certain level of security.”
