Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs strengthens control over civilians and critical infrastructure in occupied Ukraine – Latest Updates

In the occupied territory of Ukraine, invaders are strengthening control over civilians and critical infrastructure. In particular, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is increasing the number of law enforcement agencies.

How reports The Institute for the Study of War, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, said at the Ministry of Internal Affairs collegium on April 2 that the department is creating territorial divisions on the territory of occupied Ukraine. Almost 14 thousand police officers took up positions in the occupation police, most of whom had previously served in local law enforcement agencies.

According to him, more than 800 employees were transferred from the Russian Federation to Ukraine and that 1,500 new employees joined the service. In addition, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has created separate units to maintain order, counter extremism and protect infrastructure in the occupied territory.

Kolokoltsev noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has paid increased attention to the protection of critical railway transit facilities and has increased mobile patrol police groups to 700 people, who check about 2.5 thousand facilities a day.

At the same time, at least 35,000 employees of the Russian National Guard were also deployed in the occupation, many of whom are probably performing law enforcement tasks.

Analysts explained that by its actions, the Russian Federation is trying to artificially change the demographics of Ukraine, stimulating the arrival of more Russian citizens to the occupied territories.

War in Ukraine – the situation in the occupied territory

In addition, this year they plan to stop providing medical services to such people, since they will be considered “foreigners” in their native land. They are also threatening mass layoffs.
