“In order to increase the effectiveness of the use of volunteer formations in the composition of the United Forces, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation signed an order that determines the order for organizing the official activities of volunteer organizations,” the material says.
The conclusion of contracts with the Ministry of Defense by the volunteer formations will give them the necessary legal status, will create common approaches for organizing complex support and fulfilling their tasks, the department notes.
As Deputy Minister of Defense Nikolay Pankov explained, all volunteers will have the right to conclude individual contracts with the volunteer units or with the Ministry of Defense as contract servicemen.
“Citizens’ conclusion of contracts with the state is first and foremost a distribution to them, as well as to their family members, of measures of social protection and support established by the state,” he emphasized.
Pankov noted that now more than 40 volunteer formations are active in Russia, and the Ministry of Defense registered a significant increase in the number of citizens who want to defend the Motherland in their composition.
At the same time, he pointed out that volunteer formations are successfully performing tasks along the contact line.
“The order expands the possibilities for staffing the units of the Joint Group of Forces with both military personnel and volunteers, for the joint use of military units and volunteer organizations,” the deputy minister emphasized.
The measures undertaken will also increase “the combat capabilities and the effectiveness of the use of the Armed Forces and the volunteer units in them”.
Pankov also said that for the ten days of this month, over 13,500 people were accepted on contract, which is 2.1 times more than the same period in May and 3.1 times more than April 2023.
At the National Defense Management Center of Russia, the Deputy Minister held a conference call on the staffing of the Russian army with contract servicemen.
