The ways out from Bakhmut of the units of the private military company (PMC) “Wagner” were mined by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Its financier Yevgeny Prigozhin announced this on Telegram on June 2.
Prigogine said that almost 99% of its units have left Bakhmut and all positions have been transferred to the Ministry of the defense. He emphasized that there were no provocations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but “suddenly they are waiting on the other side”.

Celebrating his 62nd birthday on Thursday at a training camp, Prigozhin also confirmed that his men would finally leave the eastern Ukrainian town of Bakhmut on June 5 after handing it over to the Russian army. Wagner’s mercenaries captured the ravaged city in late May after months of brutal warfare.
“If the whole chain (of command) is 100% failed and will be run only by clowns who turn people into meat, then we will not participate in it,” said Prigogine, known for his outspoken, often profanity-laced, comments on theme of the conduct of the war.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” he told Russian reporters with a smile, staring up at the night sky lit up by explosions and red flares against volleys of automatic fire from his mercenaries.
He then proceeded to detail the prosthetic legs his wounded men had received, including those who had continued to fight.
