“Zinichev tragically died while performing his official duties during inter-departmental exercises to prevent a crisis situation in the Arctic, saving a person’s life,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The cameraman, known as Alexander Melnik, joined Zinichev’s group to make a documentary on the Arctic and the North Sea Route
“There were enough witnesses, no one had time to think about what happened when Zinichev jumped into the water to save the fallen person. He hit a rock. The cameraman also died,” Simonyan said, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday (8/8). /9/2021).

In addition, the ministry said, the 55-year-old man also visited the construction site of a new fire station in Norilsk, as well as search and rescue teams in the area.
Prior to becoming a minister, Zinichev held a number of jobs including as Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service. He is also a former bodyguard and personal aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
