The entire crew of the machine involved in a deadly plane crash in which Russian millionaire Anatoly Evsyukov and his wife Anna died… miraculously survived.
The incident took place in Afghanistan. The two rich men died, but the other four people on board somehow escaped alive from the treacherous conditions.
Photos of three of the four survivors were posted online. They show two of the men with severe facial injuries and looking visibly shocked. The survivors were dropped off in Kabul by helicopter after being found. They were given treatment to help with their injuries.
Russia’s Falcon 10 air ambulance had six people on board when it disappeared from radar screens in a mountainous area of Afghanistan on Saturday.
The pilots are understood to have reported problems with the engines and fuel levels during the flight before disappearing from radar screens at 19:30 local time in Badakhshan province.
Footage appeared to show smoke rising from the scene at least 12 hours after the crash. The Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said the plane was found in the province’s Kuf Ab district, near Aruz Koh mountain, on Sunday.
“The pilot was found by the search team of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” the statement said.
Many people feared that everyone inside the plane was dead after seeing the machine almost free fall.
The four survivors had to battle harsh conditions in snowy mountains to find safety after facing what many would consider almost certain death.
Despite the disfigured remains of the air ambulance on the ground, the four survivors suffered only minor injuries. The youngest of them was 26-year-old paramedic Igor Sivorotkin, who reached the nearest Afghan village of Pedu to find help.
After battling bitterly cold weather and a lack of proper clothing and equipment for the mountain trek, Igor was forced to use sign language to communicate with the Afghan locals.
Igor’s mother told local media: “We know he’s alive, he called us.”
The other paramedic is called Pavel Popov.
However, Dmitry Belyakov and Arkady Grachev are the ones who played the most important role in the salvation. THEY heroically landed the plane as safely as possible, flying over the snowy mountains, trying to keep themselves and the two paramedics alive
The service responsible for the evacuation flight was ATHLETIK-GRUPP OOO. They are headed by Arkady’s ex-wife Ekaterina Agapova.
After the crash, Ekaterina said: “Nothing is known yet, now I’m trying to understand the situation and find out what happened. There is no confirmed data yet.”
According to Argumenty i Fakty – a Russian news outlet – Ekaterina and Arkady kept the Falcon 10 air ambulance after their divorce and continued to use it, even though its condition was reportedly deteriorating.
The newspaper “Izvestia” reported after the tragic accident that the plane was supposed to be empty and that there were no passengers or cargo on board. “Izvestia” continued: “Pilots Dmitry Belyakov and Arkady Grachev of the Falcon 10 aircraft had minimal experience in flying this aircraft. They completed training only in 2023. The pilots had private pilot certificates, but with such a certificate they could not fly an aircraft, operating a commercial flight.”
Evsyukov’s wife Anna fell seriously ill during a luxury vacation in Thailand. With the doomed plane, she was supposed to return to Russia for treatment. The plane stopped to refuel in Gaya, India and had to make a second trip to Tashkent, Uzbekistan before finally landing at Zhukovsky Airport in Moscow.
After problems in the air, the pilot duo decided to make an unscheduled stop in Tajikistan. Moments after this decision, one engine is believed to have failed before the second also stopped working just ten minutes later.
The plane then disappeared from radar on a flight 35 miles from the nearest airport in Tajikistan.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed that the downed Russian plane was found in Kuf Ab area of Badakhshan with two dead.
The Russian millionaire couple’s son Vitaly Evsyukov, 41, was flying on a separate flight to Moscow at the time of the crash. He only found out when he returned to earth that his parents had died.
Vitali was told he could not get on the same plane as his parents because only one accompanying passenger was allowed in small ambulances.
The chilling crash is the first since Russian jets were hit with tough sanctions over Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Since then, there have been numerous crash landings and air accidents due to a lack of spare parts and basic maintenance involving Western suppliers.
This is the ninth recorded incident involving a Russian aircraft since the beginning of 2024 and the eighth that occurred in flight in the last nine days.
