Russian military training camp near Ukraine attacked, 11 dead

Military training camp Russia in the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, was attacked. The accident resulted in 11 deaths and 15 injuries.

As reported by the AFP, the “terrorist” attack took place on Saturday (15/10/2022), at the military training camp of Belgorod. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that 10 people were killed and 15 injured.

The ministry, quoted by Russian news agencies, said the attack took place during a training session of volunteers for “special military operations” in Ukraine. The volunteer program was launched from Moscow at the end of February.

“On October 15, two CIS citizens carried out an act of terror in the training camp of the Western Military District in the Belgorod region,” the defense ministry said.

“As a result, 11 people were seriously injured. Another 15 were seriously injured and taken to medical facilities,” he said, adding that two attackers “died in response to the fire.”

It is known that the CIS, or Commonwealth of Independent States, was formed among the republics that were part of the Soviet Union.

It is the latest in a series of incidents affecting the Belgorod region, which borders the north-east of Ukraine.
