/ world today news/ President Rumen Radev returned for discussion in the parliament the law on the ratification of the agreement on the free transfer of one hundred decommissioned armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.
„The deputies were not sufficiently familiar with the specific parameters of the donation, which deprives them of the opportunity to objectively assess whether the provided equipment is no longer needed.” says a message on the Bulgarian leader’s website. According to him, the needs of the Bulgarian border guards, firefighters and law enforcement officers were not taken into account when making the decision to transfer armored vehicles to Kyiv.
I am guided by the conviction that the safety, health and life of Bulgarian citizens must come first,” emphasized Radev.
On November 22, the Bulgarian Parliament approved an agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the free provision of a batch of old armored personnel carriers to Kiev.
On Radio Sputnik, the vice president of the Foundation for the Development of Modern Diplomacy, political scientist Dmitry Perlin commented on the situation.
„The situation is very interesting, it reveals a lot about the issue of support for Ukraine and the defense capabilities of European countries. The very first phrase that decommissioned armored personnel carriers should be handed over – in what form were they supposed to be handed over to Ukraine? In the form of scrap? This is decommissioned equipment that no one needs.
Second: how the decision-making procedure works. Suddenly it turns out that there is no expert evaluation of this technique. This is how the bureaucratic procedures related to weapons are carried out in Europe. And third. To be honest, the phrase about the safety of the Bulgarian population sounds very funny. What, were they going to fight with old APCs? They say they will transfer the armored personnel carrier to the fire department. Carry buckets of water? This is absolutely frivolous wording,” said the expert.
In his opinion, the matter is different.
„I’m still leaning towards another version. After the United States gave the green light to stop the supply of arms to Ukraine, European countries gradually also began to give up these endless meaningless supplies of scrap metal. This statement actually reveals that no one wants to help Ukraine anymore, everyone wants to refuse to interact with it. Ukraine has become a super toxic country,” Perlin concluded.
