A Russian man has been detained for trying to set fire to the mausoleum of former Soviet leader Lenin in Moscow’s Red Square.
The man has been detained for two months, according to a ruling from a court in Moscow, according to the state-run Russian news agency Ria Novosti.
He is said to have been arrested on Monday after throwing a Molotov cocktail in the direction of the grave of the founders of the Soviet Union. The ruling did not mention a possible motive for the supposed arson attempt, but the man risks up to seven years in prison.
In May, another person tried to carry out a similar attack on the mausoleum, while in February a drunken man tried to steal Lenin’s mummified body.
The mausoleum is visited by thousands of tourists every year.
