At the WTA 500 tournament in Washington, Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (WTA 34) lost to the current winner of the tournament, Russian Lyudmila Samsonova (WTA 18) with a score of 4:6, 2:6.
The match lasted 90 minutes, during which Marta filed two aces against Samsonova’s three. At the same time, Kostyuk made seven double faults, while the opponent had only three.
Kostyuk also converted two out of three break points against five out of eight from her opponent.
Recall that earlier at the same stage, the fight in Washington was stopped by Elina Svitolina.
