The Russian Ministry of Defense removed Lieutenant General Andrey Sichev from command due to his failures in the Bakhmut area, reports the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to the information, the Russian military command removed Sichev from his position, probably because of conducting unprepared counterattacks south of Bakhmut in the area of Klescheevka and Andreevka. Analysts note that Sichev’s current role in the Russian military is unknown.

According to the American Institute for the Study of War, Sichev previously commanded the Western Group of Russian Forces in Kharkiv Oblast until his dismissal in early September 2022, and this statement is the first notice that Sichev participated in military operations in Ukraine after September 2022

According to some reports, Sichev retained his official position and may have intended to keep this position a secret, ISW writes.

In the last 24 hours, the aviation of the Ukrainian forces carried out 13 strikes on areas of concentration of personnel, armaments and military equipment of the Russian troops.

This is stated in the summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “UNIAN” informs. It is noted that 4 hits were also made on the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems.

“Units of the missile forces struck 3 areas of concentration of enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment and 20 artillery pieces,” the statement said.

The summary also notes that the Russians, for their part, are shelling both military and civilian targets.

28 attacks were carried out with rocket systems for volley fire on positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

As a result of the Russian attacks, there have been deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed and damaged,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Meanwhile, within 24 hours, the Ukrainian forces advanced in the Tauri direction and inflicted losses on the Russian units.

This was announced by the commander of the operational-strategic group of troops “Tavria” Alexander Tarnavski in his Telegram channel, UNIAN informs.

“There is progress of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Tavrichesky direction. The artillery units of our troops executed 1,198 fire missions during the day,” notes Tarnavski.

Last night, explosions were heard in the Russian cities of Belgorod and Bryansk. This was reported by local residents on the network, the world publications inform.

A little later, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that air defense was operating over the city and the region, and according to him, all targets had been shot down.
