Russian lieutenant colonel is dead

The Ukrainian military said Monday morning that Russian Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Agarkov had been killed.

– The number of liquidated commanders in the Russian army continues to increase, the Ukrainian army writes on Twitter.

Agarkov was the commander-in-chief of a Russian infantry regiment and was former chief of staff of a paratrooper regiment. He is said to have been stationed on the Crimean peninsula before Russia invaded Ukraine.

He is the latest in a series of senior Russian officers to have been killed in fighting in Ukraine.

The death is confirmed by the governor of the region Agarkov was from.

Agarkov was buried at home in Russia on Tuesday, the governor said.
