The Russian Legion “Freedom of Russia” and the “Russian Volunteer Corps” fighting in Ukraine are conducting an operation in the territory of Russia’s Belgorod region to create a “security zone” for the protection of Ukrainian civilians, Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Department (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, announced on Monday.
According to him, only Russian citizens perform the operation.
Around 2 p.m., “Freedom of Russia” and “Russian Volunteer Corps” announced that they had “liberated” the village of Kozinka in the Belgorod region and entered the settlement of Graivoron.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, confirmed that a group of Ukrainian saboteurs “entered the territory of the Graivoron district.” According to him, “the Armed Forces of Russia, together with the Border Guard, the National Guard and the FSB, are taking the necessary measures to eliminate the enemy.”
The Ukrainian and Russian “Telegram” channels have released a video in which representatives of the “Russian Volunteer Corps” claim to be near Bezlyudovka in the Belgorod region, Lyubimovka, Churovichi villages in the Bryansk region.
On the other hand, “Freedom of Russia” published an appeal calling on Russians to fight against Putin’s regime. Later, they called on the residents of Russia’s border regions to “stay at home and not resist.”
News has emerged that fighters from these two units attacked the Graivoron border checkpoint, as a result of which a Russian border guard was killed. A video about the movement of the military equipment of these units on the territory of Russia is also being distributed on the Internet.
