Chief Rabbi of Russia urges Lavrov to apologize

The Russian Foreign Minister caused a scandal by declaring that “Jews are the most vicious anti-Semites.”
Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar demanded a public apology from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for his words about anti-Semitic Jews, writes Jewish Telegraphic Association.
“I do not consider myself authorized to give advice to the head of Russian diplomacy, but it would be nice if he apologized to the Jews and simply admitted his mistake. I think after such an incident one could consider it eliminated and turn the page,” he said.
Lazar noted that he did not share the opinion that the actions of the Russian authorities were identified with the actions of the Soviet army during World War II.
According to him, accusations of Ukrainians of “neo-Nazism” by the Russian Federation underestimate the feat and heroism of the Soviet military, who liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp and planted a red “victory flag” over the Reichstag in Berlin.
