The trial of the extradition of Russian Igor Churkin to Ukraine began in Argentina. This was said by the lawyer Christian Rubilar.

“The expansion test has already started. Today we are presenting exceptions – refugee status, applying for citizenship – and giving evidence,” said Christian Rubilar. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti. However, it was difficult for him to announce the period in which the matter would be considered.

Earlier, Churkin was detained in Argentina at the request of Kyiv. He is accused in Ukraine of falsely reporting the commission of a crime (Article 383 of the Criminal Code). Churkin himself is seeking political asylum and citizenship. If the Argentine side accepts this, there will be no extension. In Argentina, Churkin had a daughter.
