The second stage of the Russian Grand Prix series takes place in Kazan. Men’s singles skating in particular stands out; since the very beginning of the season, the skaters have been showing amazing results with a lot of quadruple jumps and high goals. This competition was no exception.
A student made it to the top five Svetlana Sokolovskaya Grigory Fedorov. He claimed four quadruple jumps, but didn’t manage them all. The quadruple cascade and quadruple lutz cascade – triple toe bend in the first half and quadruple bend in the second turned out well. Everything was ruined by a strong understeer on Lutz’s solo quad, which led to a crash. Despite this serious mistake, Grigory continued with his performance, he interacted a lot with the audience and played every movement clearly. For the lease, Fedorov received 159.99 points and a total of 240.84.

Brass inside Matveya Vetlugin. The skipper started the skate with a spectacular quadruple lutz, but immediately fell from a quadruple flip. The most interesting moment was in the second part of the program. The athlete entered the Lutz-Rittberger cascade, but the second jump took only two turns. As a result, he immediately repeated it and did not break the rule about repetition. The production to Robbie Williams hits Matvey; even with mistakes on jumps, he easily does all the other elements, not forgetting to interact with the audience. For the lease, Vetlugin got 169.56 points and 255.18 in total.

Left in second place Gleb Lutfullin. He skated his free program with a solid set of ultra-c elements without major mistakes. After such an increase in strength for the second part, there were almost no non-jumping elements left, so the exits from the triples were dirty, and the levels suffered on the route and distribution. He was just short of gold – Lutfullin scored 186.81 points for the lease and 284.85 overall.
