Local media reported that the suspect is a 42-year-old railway worker who testified during interrogation that an inner voice told him to attack the governor.
The governor’s press secretary announced on Russian state television that Chibis managed to get to his car on his own after the attack.
The governor was taken to the hospital and informed his wife of the incident to reassure her.
