The Russian Defense Ministry reported earlier on Thursday that a test-fired Tsirkon hypersonic missile launched from the frigate of the Northern Fleet Admiral Gorshkov hit a Navy target in the White Sea with a direct hit.
“The recording equipment data shows that the flight of the hypersonic missile met the specified parameters. The targets were destroyed by direct strikes,” the ministry continued.
As determined by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the hypersonic missile was tested against a sea target position in the White Sea. “The Northern Fleet engaged its surface ships and naval aviation to conduct test fire and seal off the area,” the statement added.

A source previously told TASS that tests of the Tsirkon hypersonic missile would begin in November and continue in December. In all, five test-launch against marine and coastal targets are planned.
On August 24, 2021, a contract was signed at the 2021 Army international arms exhibition on the delivery of Tsirkon hypersonic missiles to Russian troops.
