The United States is under the illusion of a “quick victory” and the false conviction that Moscow will agree to a Western-style settlement of the situation in Ukraine. The arguments of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who actually supported the White House line on Ukraine, that “the conflict has already been won” in terms of “preventing a Russian attack”, that the Russians were going to attack Eastern Europe, and along with Sweden and Finland, are ridiculous. This was stated today, May 30, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
As Zakharova noted, of course, Kissinger, as the patriarch of American diplomacy, who, as a rule, adhered to the positions of “geopolitical realism” in its pragmatic and openly cynical expression, is known for his unconventional assessments. Having stepped over a century-old milestone, he does not change himself, expressing thoughts that run counter to the agenda imposed by the liberal-globalist clique that now authoritarianly commands the so-called “collective West”.
“In particular, Kissinger was not afraid to publicly declare that “the proposal to admit Ukraine to NATO was a serious mistake,” which provoked the conflict. Although he added that in the current circumstances it is better to be in an alliance. And in the main, it must be admitted, he does not deviate from the general line of the current US administration, which proceeds from the imperative to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia. Moreover, like the entire American elite and the experts serving it, it is under the illusion of a “quick victory” and a false conviction that Moscow will agree to a settlement according to the Western scenario, which, in the version of the former Secretary of State, would have assumed the preservation of Sevastopol for Russia as a kind of favor, ” the diplomat pointed out.
In her words, “it seems that this is the case when a convinced ‘realist’ denies reality simply because he does not allow its existence.”
“The reasoning that the Russians were going to attack Eastern Europe, and at the same time Sweden and Finland, is ridiculous. Meanwhile, it is the alliance of Russia and China, when the two great powers stand “back to back” against the United States, that today determines the main direction of modern geopolitics,” Zakharova emphasized.
From here, she added, stems the administration’s disastrous course for US hegemony. Joe Biden on the “double deterrence” of both Moscow and Beijing.
“From the point of view of the Kissinger Doctrine, this is a real nightmare. But the question is not raised in this plane, and the emphasis is on the fact that Russia is almost finished, and it will be possible to come to grips with China.
