Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the Ukrainian president a “traitor” ahead of tomorrow’s Victory Day, which will be celebrated in Russia with a spectacular parade on Red Square.
Volodymyr Zelensky previously stressed that Russia would be defeated like Nazism and promised to liberate the areas occupied by Moscow’s army.
“What could be worse than an enemy? A traitor. This is Zelensky. A new incarnation of Judas in the 21st century,” Zakharova says on her channel in Telegram.
“Having canceled Victory Day on May 9, he betrayed his ancestors once and for all: those who fought in the ranks of the Red Army, those who suffered and were tortured in concentration camps and those who worked for Victory in the home. One for everyone. Fascist collaborator 80 years later,” concluded Zakharova.
Victory Day is a holiday celebrated in Russia and other countries around the world. It began to be celebrated in the 15 republics of the Soviet Union after the signing of the German surrender pact on the night of May 8, 1945 (Moscow time is after midnight on May 9).
The Soviet government declared victory in the early hours of May 9, after the signing ceremony in Berlin.
