“The Russian Federation, having reaffirmed its adherence to allied obligations within the framework of the CSTO, supported the adoption of urgent measures in connection with the rapid degradation of the internal political situation and the growth of violence in Kazakhstan,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

It is reported that the Russian Federation will continue close consultations with the Kazakh side and other allies in the CSTO “to analyze and develop, if necessary, further effective steps.”

Earlier it was reported that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev asked for help to the heads of the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
