Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Accuses US, UK, and European Countries of Pressuring UN Votes Against Russia

The Russian side is well aware of the methods of pressure used by the United States, Great Britain and some European countries to collect votes in support of anti-Russian resolutions at the UN General Assembly (GA). Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in an interview CBS.

“For us, it doesn’t matter who voted in what way, because I know how the Americans, the British and some Europeans get these votes,” the minister said, commenting on the relevant topic. — When they voted for these resolutions, I asked why they [участники ГА ООН]why they voted like that, they answered somewhat bashfully: well, you understand, I’ve been working here for 10 years, my children study at Stanford.”

According to Lavrov, representatives of the United States and Great Britain are reminding UNGA participants about such circumstances and bank accounts in order to collect votes.

To the clarifying question whether most of the UNGA countries voted for anti-Russian resolutions under US pressure, the minister answered in the affirmative. “Not most of them, but all of them,” Lavrov summed up, citing excerpts from TASS.

As reported, Lavrov is in New York from January 22 to 24 to participate in UN Security Council debates on the Middle East and a meeting on Ukraine. Several bilateral meetings are also expected. At the same time, the Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Ryabkov previously stated that he did not foresee possible contacts between Lavrov and US Secretary of State E.Antony Blinkena.
