Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov submitted his complaint after attending the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) in Bali on Friday (8/7/2022).
Lavrov said foreign ministers of Western countries who attended the G20 meeting did not take the opportunity to discuss global economic challenges. They instead launched a verbal attack on Russia.
“During the discussions, Western partners avoided following the mandate of the G20, from tackling world economic problems,” Lavrov said, as reported Reutersquoted Monday (11/7/2022).

During the meeting, it was learned that Lavrov was in the same room as some of the harshest critics of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. As the host, Indonesia has also urged G20 members to help end the war in Ukraine.
Shouts of “When did you stop the war” and “Why don’t you stop the war” were heard as Lavrov shook hands with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi at the beginning of the meeting.
“‘Aggressors’, ‘invaders’ – we hear a lot today,” he added.
Russia says the “special military operation” is meant to bring down Ukraine’s military, root out people it calls dangerous nationalists, and prevent the United States from using Ukraine to threaten Russia.
Ukraine and its Western backers say Russia is involved in imperial-style land grabs. They say Russia has no justification for war.
Meanwhile, Russia says the West’s efforts to isolate Moscow with the toughest sanctions of modern times are akin to a declaration of economic war. Russia says from now on it will turn to China, India and other powers outside the West.
Lavrov said that if the West wanted Ukraine to beat Russia, then there was nothing to talk about with the West, which he said prevented Kyiv from seeking a peace deal.
He added that Russia was also ready to negotiate with Ukraine and Turkey on grain but it was not clear when such talks would take place.
