Today, Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces had thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to carry out an attack with two drones over Belgorod region, and repelled another Ukrainian attack with two drone boats that targeted the Crimean Bridge.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that Kiev has successfully tested homemade missiles with a range of 700 kilometers now, and one of them may reach a thousand kilometers, indicating that the military leadership is seeking to increase the range of its offensive weapons.

Traffic on the Crimean Bridge has returned after being temporarily halted due to the Ukrainian attack.

The bridge, which was completed in 2018 after 4 years of Russia’s control and annexation of the peninsula from Ukraine, has come under repeated attack since the start of the Russian war on Ukraine 18 months ago.

previous attacks

Ukraine claimed responsibility for an attack last July on the bridge carried out by what was described as a sea drone, which killed two people.

The 19-kilometer bridge across the Kerch Strait was also severely damaged in October 2022 in an explosion that Russian officials said was caused by a truck that exploded while crossing the bridge.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that its forces carried out 5 precise strikes that disrupted the strategic electronic control system of the Ukrainian army.

In a separate context, the governor of the Kursk region, adjacent to Belgorod, said that a village on the border was bombed by Ukrainians, wounding a woman.

The number of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory has increased in the past few weeks, as dozens of drones sometimes launch attacks on Russia at once.

Moscow fortification

The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, called for the expansion of air defenses in the city to counter the significant rise in Ukrainian drone attacks.

Sobyanin reported that new air defense systems had been installed in recent weeks in different areas in order to protect the city.

On the other hand, Ukraine announced yesterday, Friday, that during the week it launched an attack with drones on a Russian airport from Russian territory for the first time.
