“Unfortunately, yesterday, October 23, after a long illness, Alexander Rogozhkin died,” a studio spokesman told Interfax.
It is not yet known where the farewell of the director and his funeral will take place, added the agency’s interlocutor.
Among the films and television works directed by Rogozhkin are the films “Guard”, “Chekist”, “Peculiarities of National Fishing” and the series “Sasisto Lantern Streets”.
Several of Rogozhkin’s works have been awarded both in Russia and abroad. He has received such prestigious awards as “Nickel”, “Golden Eagle” and “Cinema Eagle”, the director has also been awarded at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The 1989 drama Sardze won the Alfred Bauer Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, while the 1992 film The Chekist was included in the Cannes Film Festival’s “Un Certain Regard” screening.
