“In the last 24 hours, warplanes of the Russian Air Force shot down two MiG-29s of the Ukrainian Air Force in the residential areas of Slavyansk and Druzhkovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the spokesman said, as quoted by TASS.

Konashenkov also reported that Russian fighter jets, missile and artillery troops struck about 230 Ukrainian military targets in the past 24 hours in Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine.
“In the last 24 hours, operational and military tactical aircraft, missile and artillery troops attacked 18 command posts, as well as military manpower and hardware in 211 areas,” he explained.
The MiG-29 multirole fighter was engineered by the Mikoyan Design Bureau in the 1970s. The MiG-29 is designed to attack aerial targets primarily within its radar field and also to strike ground targets with rockets within visual range.

Various modifications of the MiG-29 fighter are in service in several countries, including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, India, Kazakhstan, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. According to available data in 2021, the Ukrainian Air Force operates 37 MiG-29 fighters.
It is also reported that Russian air defense systems also shot down two Su-25 ground attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Nikolayev Region and nine unmanned aerial vehicles in the Kharkov and Kherson Regions and in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
