Russian Fighter Jet Interception of US Reconnaissance Plane Colored High Tension of Both Countries

MOSCOW, KOMPAS.TV – Russian fighter jets intercept a United States (US) reconnaissance aircraft over the Pacific Ocean.

The incident was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Friday (16/4/2021).

The incident has colored the tension between the two countries which has increased in recent weeks.

Russian News Agency, Tass, as quoted from New York Post reported that defense ministry officials detected a US RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft over the Pacific Ocean.

The plane sits along the 777-mile southeast coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula from Russia’s far eastern border.

“An MIG-31 fighter jet was dispatched from Kamchatka airfield to identify and escort the aircraft,” said a statement by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
