Russian Federation and China Allegedly Gain Access to Email Correspondence and Internal Communication in Cyber Attack

According to the newspaper, as a result of the hacking, the Russian Federation and China allegedly received copies of email correspondence, internal communication between Foreign Ministry employees and meetings through the Teams program. Presumably, the hackers broke into the system because of one of the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who opened the infected email.

As noted in the British electronic intelligence service, the cyber attack did not affect classified information. At the same time, the department admitted that hackers could gain access to the correspondence of ambassadors or diplomats abroad.

“It was very embarrassing and caused a big uproar in the government because they didn’t know whether to admit it or not. It could be a huge amount of information, ”the secret service emphasized.
