Russian Fashion Designer Valentin Yudashkin Dies at Age 59

Russian fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin is dead. He died at the age of 59 after a serious illness, state Russian media reported. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the designer’s death “tragic news”. Yudashkin had not only made a name for himself in Russia with classic fashion collections. In 2008 he designed new uniforms for the Russian Army. Yudashkin also became famous outside of Russia. Since 1991 his collections have been on display at Paris Fashion Week. A year ago, however, his show was canceled there because Yudashkin had not spoken out against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
