Drone attack again hit the Kiev region, the capital Ukraine, Monday (12/19) morning local time. Authority Kiev it claims to have shot down at least nine Russian drones that were in its airspace.
As reported AFP extensionOn Monday (12/19/2022), the military authority of the city of Kyiv in a statement appealed to residents to continue to pay attention and obey the air alerts issued by the government.
“The enemy is attacking the capital,” military authorities in Kiev said via Telegram, referring to Russian troops.
“Currently, at least nine enemy UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles or drones) have been shot down in Kiev’s airspace,” the statement said.
It was also alleged that Russian troops were using drone-shaped artificial munitions Iran, Shahed, in his attacks on Ukraine. Drones of the same type have also been launched in the Ukrainian capital region in recent weeks.
The civil authority of the city of Kiev issued a first air alert on Monday (12/19) at around 01:56 local time, which lasted more than three hours. The second siren sounded at around 5:24 am local time and lasted for half an hour.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed in a separate statement that there were “multiple explosions” in the area of the capital. But he did not further explain the triggers of the explosions.
“Several explosions were heard in Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the capital. All services are working on the ground. More detailed information will be provided later,” Klitschko said in a statement.
