“Russian Drone Attack Damages Odessa Port, Raises Concerns for Grain Exports”

According to information from the Ukrainian military, a Russian drone caused damage to the infrastructure of the important Black Sea port of Odessa. A fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished, but the extent of the damage is not yet clear, Reuters reported.

It is not clear whether this damage calls into question grain exports. Through the Odesa Oblast ports, Ukraine exports grain and other food products under the grain initiative.

Last year, the UN and Turkey struck a deal to export grain through the Black Sea to help tackle a global food crisis exacerbated by the conflict in Ukraine, one of the world’s leading grain exporters.

The military said Russian forces used Iranian-made Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles, but did not provide further details on what happened.

Early this morning, Russia launched airstrikes against various targets, including Kiev, using drones and cruise missiles. The military administration of the capital announced that defense forces managed to destroy over 40 Russian missiles and drones, BTA reported.
