For example, false records have been widely published that medical care in the Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine is better than in the rest of the country.
It is said that new medical equipment is being bought and medical facilities are being opened in the occupied parts, but it is being glossed over that medical care and medicines are not available without a Russian passport.
Information has also been withheld that since the beginning of the general invasion, Russia has destroyed at least one and a half thousand medical facilities and 195 of them have been completely destroyed.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to pay the salaries of the medics who remained in the occupied territories of Ukraine!
All this misinformation about the “excellent health care” was “dumped” on social networks on a massive scale – in the conditions when people in the territories of Ukraine occupied by the Kremlin are forced to “voluntarily” participate in the so-called Russian presidential elections under the supervision of armed persons.
In order to turn people against Ukraine and its leadership, various other rumors directed against officials are also spread.
It is reported that Olena, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, misled the United Arab Emirates and the country’s gifted ambulances intended for the service of citizens by handing them over to military medics. However, this is not the case, and the cars were donated to the responsible ministry, which assigned them as needed.
Also, the fight over the now former commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhnyi, who has zero agreed to occupy the position of ambassador to Great Britain, continues.
Videos are being widely distributed, in which it is reported that Zaluzhny received 53 million US dollars for giving up his political ambitions, moreover, these stories are made, as if referring to what was reported by respectable media and journalists. But this is also a false story.
There are also many war-related rumors spreading on the Internet – that Ukrainians are shooting people on the border who are trying to avoid mobilization, that Ukraine is planning to return Kharkiv to Russia and is preparing to evacuate the population.
Also, maps with completely undamaged Mariupol and the intact Drama Theater and Azovstal factory have appeared on the Internet. Various other disinformation topics are also popular. Some of them are even blatantly absurd – for example, that birds that have eaten Ukrainian grain are dying en masse in Poland.
Ruslans Deinichenko, representative of the Ukrainian fact-checkers “StopFake”, also confirmed that disinformation is being spread especially actively these days.
Ruslans Deinichenko, representative of StopFake, on the disinformation of the Kremlin in Ukraine
“Russian propaganda does not stop, only some topics can change. Today, our commander-in-chief of the armed forces is not Zaluzhny, but Sirski, so let’s think of something else – we will not appoint Sirski as president, but we will publish some materials, we will spread some information that could quarrel with Sirski and not with the president, but with his subordinate commanders on the battlefield,” said Deinichenko. “We see that they are currently working in the direction of the Commander-in-Chief. (..) The same is true for other topics. As soon as they see any weakness, they start to attack in that direction and attack en masse. Millions of posts on social networks and communication sites and they are distributed with the help of special automatic computer engineering algorithms. There are no people sitting there pushing some buttons – it’s all “produced” on an industrial scale”.
And since the society in Ukraine consumes social networks a lot, for example, individual “Telegram” channels are much more popular even than the local telemarathon, in which a large part of Ukrainian televisions are united, so it is a good place for misinformation to spread.
Ukraine is struggling with disinformation. That’s what the aforementioned fact-checkers are doing, who are trying to counter it locally on social media. Responding to specific false news or elaborating on topics used by disinformation purveyors.
The media also gets involved, and the public is invited to critically assess information. Security authorities are also actively working.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported this week that a group of pro-Russian disinformers had been detained in Kyiv, which had fulfilled the tasks of the Russian Security Service.
The group, which consisted of more than 15 people, spread Kremlin narratives with the aim of destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and inciting religious hatred at the behest of the Russian security service.
Ukraine’s security service described the group detained this week as “one of the largest that has operated in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.”
