The arrested killer had a fake Russian passport. According to the prosecutor, the papers officially came from the government.

The same FSB department is also said to be responsible for the poisoning of the arrested opposition leader Alexej Navalny. The well-known blogger had fallen ill on a plane in Siberia and was receiving medical help and personal protection from Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany. Upon his return to Russia, Navalny was convicted for alleged violation of rules.
